A Test cricket match normally starts at 10am and the lunch break is at 12pm. However, there may be delays due to weather conditions and if an innings ends 10 minutes or less before lunch, the break must be taken immediately. The lunch break time in test cricket is usually 40 minutes, allowing the players to rest after two hours of physically demanding play and to regain their strength for the second session. In longer matches, such a break is mandatory and standardized by the International Cricket Council.
